The Tamil Nadu government has issued an order for creation of the posts of veterinary assistant surgeons, livestock inspectors, and Animal Husbandry assistants to be filled on a deputation basis from the Animal Husbandry Department. 

This decision has been taken to ensure proper medical care for rescued wild animals, address human-wildlife conflict issues, and enhance rescue operations across various regions of the State.

As per the government order issued by Supriya Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary to Departments of Environment, Climate Change, and Forests, two veterinary assistant surgeon posts have been allocated to Kurumbapatti Zoo, covering Namakkal and Salem districts. Another two have been designated for the Srivilliputhur Megamalai Tiger Reserve in Virudhunagar, while one will be stationed in the Kodaikanal Wildlife Sanctuary, Dindigul. 

Two more surgeons have been assigned to the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, covering Sadivayal elephant camp and the proposed treatment and rehabilitation centre in Coimbatore. Additionally, one veterinary assistant surgeon will be based in the Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve, covering the Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Kanniyakumari divisions. In Vellore, two veterinary assistant surgeon posts will serve the Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, and Tirupathur divisions, including Amirthi Zoo.

For the livestock inspectors, two positions have been created for Kurumbapatti Zoo, two for Srivilliputhur Megamalai Tiger Reserve, one for Kodaikanal Wildlife Sanctuary, and one for Anamalai Tiger Reserve. Similarly, Animal Husbandry assistants have been sanctioned across these regions to provide necessary support.
