Thiruvananthapuram Additional District and Sessions Judge VII Prasun Mohan on Friday summoned forensic expert, S.R. Suresh, and cyber expert, Anu Philip, for the trial in the murder case of Vineetha, a private nursery employee in Ambalamukku in 2022.

The prosecution had earlier presented surveillance footage showing the accused, Rajendran, travelling from Ambalamukku to the nursery where Vineetha worked. The court requested assistance from the cyber expert to enhance the clarity of the footage and identify the accused’s face.

Moreover, the shop owner, who was unable to reach Vineetha on the phone on the day of the murder, had testified in court that he had forgotten to take his mobile phone in the rush. Upon reaching the shop, he found Vineetha dead and immediately informed the police using her phone. However, the police call log presented in court did not include any emergency calls or any missed calls from the shop owner.

According to the prosecution led by Special Public Prosecutor M. Salahudeen, the forensic expert presented evidence to validate the shop owner’s testimony. The phone, which had been deactivated following her death three years ago, was reactivated for the purpose. The hearing has next been posted for March 18.
