DC instructs officials to make elaborate arrangements for Vairamudi Utsava on April 7

Deputy Commissioner Kumara directed the officials to make elaborate preparations for the Vairamudi Utsava which will be held at Melkote on April 7.

Presiding over a meeting convened to discuss the arrangements for the famous utsava at Sri Cheluvarayaswamy Temple in Melkote of Mandya district, Mr. Kumara told the officials to make necessary arrangements for the festivities which are expected to attract a large number of devotees.

There will be rituals as part of the utsava from April 2 to 14, he said.

He asked the officials to constitute committees for the smooth conduct of the festivities.

Mr. Kumara instructed officials to make drinking water arrangements and ensure its quality by carrying out testing. Water taps should be fixed at necessary locations, he added.

CCTV surveillance

The Deputy Commissioner said that permanent installation of CCTV cameras at a cost of ₹19 lakh in and around the temple has been proposed and the monitoring of the cameras has to be done from the office of the executive officer of the temple in the days ahead.

He also told the officials to ensure hygiene on the temple premises and said spraying of water can be carried out on the roads to prevent dust. Workers should be deployed to maintain cleanliness.

Mr. Kumara issued directions for identifying suitable land for parking arrangements and also setting up temporary toilets and the roads leading to Melkote would be repaired wherever necessary.

On the day of Vairamudi Utsava, a team of doctors and staff have to work in three shifts, he said. He also suggested the installation of signage at road curves and humps on the main roads leading to Melkote for the benefit of commuters.
