The Kerala High Court on Tuesday directed the State Police Chief and the Transport Commissioner to initiate stringent action against contract carriages that operated in violation of safety norms.

The court issued the directive after reviewing YouTube videos of two contract carriages that were illegally fitted with lights and other modifications. Following this, the court instructed the State Police Chief to delegate the enforcement measures to district police chiefs. Furthermore, it directed the Transport Commissioner to take action through the Motor Vehicle department’s enforcement officers.
