The Kattoor police in Coimbatore has registered a case against a woman and three others after they purchased diamond ornaments from a jewellery showroom in the city using a cheque leaf of a frozen bank account.
The police registered the case against one Pradeeba Rani Naidu and three others, based on a complaint lodged by the supervisor of the jewellery located on Cross Cut Road at Gandhipuram.
As per the complaint, the accused visited the showroom on January 10 and purchased diamond ornaments worth ₹12.5 lakh and gave a cheque leaf for the payment. When the jeweller submitted the cheque leaf at the bank, it was found that the buyer’s account was frozen.
The police have launched an investigation.
