An elderly woman was burned to death after a fire engulfed her house at Villiappally near Vadakara in Kozhikode district on Saturday (February 22, 2025). The victim was identified as P.K. Narayani, 85, who was reportedly living alone in her old house.

The police said the incident took place around 7 p.m. Though some residents reportedly attempted to douse the flames after alerting the Fire and Rescue Services department and the police, they were unable to save her.

They added that a detailed inspection would be conducted on the spot with the support of forensic experts. The victim’s body was shifted to the district hospital in Vadakara. A post-mortem would be conducted on Sunday (February 23, 2025).
