Three people were found dead under mysterious circumstances at the Mohammad Bazar area in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. The three deceased included a mother and her two children. As per initial investigation police suspect that the deaths were a case of murder.
Their blood laden bodies were discovered on February 21, Friday morning from their house in the Mohammad Bazar area by the local police.
The three deceased members of the family Lakshmi Maddi (25) lived there with her two children alone in their home and the woman’s husband used to stay outside due to work.
According to reports, the locals first discovered their bodies and called the local thana police who recovered the body.
The common people and local Bhartiya Janta Party leaders protested in the area and did not let the police shift the body from the spot before they brought in sniffer dogs to conduct proper investigation.
Police later brought in sniffer dogs to scout the whole area around the crime scene and get further details of the suspected murders.
The three victims were reportedly found with deep wounds on their heads when their body was recovered from their mud hut. The bodies have been sent for autopsy.
Birbhum Superintendent of Police (SP) Amandeep, who reached the spot and assured the locals of strict action against anyone found guilty and also promised detailed investigation.
Locals present in the area said, “The deceased woman used to fear that someone will kill her. But she never mentioned any suspects.” They suspected that there was some property and land related dispute in their family.
A local BJP leader present at the protest site added that police has not been able to find any suspects in the case and recovered the victims’ bodies without proper investigation.
This development comes as Kolkata witnessed the murders of two mothers and a girl child inside their own home, allegedly by their own family members on February 19. The motive behind the multiple murders still eludes the Kolkata Police.
