Police have arrested a 34-year-old man from north-east Delhi’s Gokalpuri area for killing his 27-year-old wife over marital dispute, an officer said on Thursday.
The accused has been identified as Harsh Goel.
According to the officer, a PCR call was received on February 2 regarding an attack on a woman at Johripur in Gokalouri. The injured woman was already shifted to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, the officer said, adding that a murder case was registered.
Her husband, Mr. Goel was nabbed from the Khajuri Khas area and during the interrogation, he admitted of killed her, the officer said.
Police said Mr. Goel used to sell medicines online and has also been involved in two drug cases in Tamil Nadu, where he has spent over eight months in jail.
“He used to consume alcohol and drugs and often beat his wife, who, along with her two children, left his house and started leaving alone. He used to keep pressuring her to return home,” the officer said.
“Annoyed for leaving him, on February 2, when his wife was returning home after dropping her children to schools, he confronted her and stabbed her. He even took her to the hospital, but when doctors declared her dead, he fled the spot,” the officer added.
