E permits are now required for the transportation of minerals from quarries starting from March 1. According to the Department of Mines, quarry lease holders must acquire E-permits online for the transportation of minerals.

Quarries are currently operating in Krishnagiri, Bargur, Pochampalli, Shoolagiri, Hosur, Anchetty, and Denkanikottai taluks. The quarry lease holders are mandated to acquire transport permits for mined minerals through an online bulk permit system introduced in June 2024.

The online epermit system was introduced to improve oversight and prevent unauthorised transportation of minerals, according to the administration. In an improvement to the system, an additional advancement has been made for the dispatch of online transport permits/despatch slips that was introduced in Shoolagiri and Hosur taluks in February and will be extended to other parts of the district soon.

From March 1, leaseholders must apply for online transport e-permits exclusively through online platforms for quicker and more efficient processing. The public is also called upon to lodge complaints on illegal quarrying and transportation of minerals on toll-free 04343-234444; 04343-1077.
