Minister reviews works to renovate Valluvarkottam

Works to renovate Valluvar Kottam, one of Chennai’s iconic monuments, will be completed by February end.

Public Works Minister E.V. Velu who inspected the works on Monday, instructed the officials to accelerate the ₹80 crore project. He reviewed the progress of various works, including auditoriums, renovation of Kural Manimadam, Stapathi works, cafeteria, landscaping, multi-level car parking and ornamental water fountain.

He instructed the officials to complete the intricate artworks, and Stapathi works on the columns and facade of Valluvar Kottam and construction of administration block, cafeteria, drinking water facility and other civil works soon. Public Work Department(PWD) secretary J. Jayakanthan and Engineer-in-Chief S. Manivannan were also present, said a press release.
