Power cut claims false, Delhi receiving seamless electricity: BSES

Power discom BSES clarified on Saturday that there were no electricity issues in the city, as the caretaker Chief Minister Atishi claimed.

A BSES spokesperson said according to State Load Dispatch Centre data, the city’s peak power demand has remained stable, ranging between 4200 and 4500 MW since February 8. “BSES discoms are ensuring a seamless, reliable and quality power supply, successfully meeting Delhi’s winter electricity demand,” the spokesperson said.

Ms. Atishi on Friday alleged that Delhi had started experiencing power cuts after the AAP government was voted out of power. Following her accusations, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva wrote to Lieutenant-Governor VK Saxena to instruct the discoms to come clean if Delhi is facing power cuts.

“Certain allegations circulating on social media about power supply issues are false and misleading,” the spokesperson said.

In the run-up to the Delhi Assembly election, AAP has alleged that if the BJP gets elected, the city will face a disrupted power supply, and the subsidy on electricity will be removed.
