Chittoor MP Dagumalla Prasad Rao has asked the district officials to coordinate with the Central government to ensure the effective implementation of development projects.

Chairing the Chittoor District Development Coordination Committee meeting alongside Collector Sumit Kumar at the Collectorate here on Saturday, the MP urged officials to submit funding proposals for key sectors such as agriculture, horticulture, road construction, and healthcare.

“This is a part of Chief Minister’s vision plan of holistic development of Chittoor district,” Mr. Prasada Rao said.

The MP highlighted the importance of utilising Central government schemes to enhance employment opportunities. He directed the district administration to facilitate bank loans for entrepreneurs under the MSME schemes and ensure the timely execution of welfare programs for those below the poverty line. He also stressed the need for a structured approach to completing development projects in SC/ST habitations and improving water supply under the Jal Jeevan Mission ahead of summer.

Under the National Health Mission, Mr. Prasada Rao called for the efficient use of central funds to strengthen healthcare infrastructure. He reiterated the need for affordable medicines under the Prime Minister’s Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana and emphasized the expansion of cancer screening services. He urged steps to boost student enrollment in public schools and improve educational facilities.

Collector Sumit Kumar provided updates on the district’s progress, stating that 90 lakh workdays were being targeted under NREGA, with ₹150 crore allocated for road construction. He noted ongoing projects, including the construction of ponds and pipelines in Punganur constituency and CC roads in SC constituencies. Proposals have also been sent for the establishment of a Central College and a Sericulture Center in Kuppam under the Rashtriya Krishi Vigyan Yojana and Micro Irrigation programs.

The meeting also reviewed the utilization of ₹5 crore allocated under MP LADS, with 60% of projects completed. Officials confirmed that ₹30 crore has been allocated for BC Corporation loans and ₹15 crore for SC Corporation loans, with an online portal to be launched soon for loan disbursement.
