Special Chief Secretary (Health) M.T. Krishna Babu has warned of strict action against government hospital superintendents and administrators if complaints are not attended to immediately.
During a video-conference with the superintendents of government hospitals in the State at the Secretariat on Wednesday, Mr. Krishna Babu said their performance was being continuously monitored at the Chief Ministerial level.
Revealing the results of the Interactive Voice Response Surveys (IVRS) conducted on January 27 and February 7 to get a feedback about services being offered at these hospitals, the official expressed happiness that the feedback was positive on five out of six subjects.
The percentage of people who said doctors and staff were available increased from 58 to 64, the percentage of people who said the behaviour of doctors and medical staff was good increased from 65 to 82, the percentage of people who noticed corruption decreased from 39 to 31, and the percentage of people who said the prescribed medicines were available at hospitals increased from 59 to 82, he said.
But he expressed concern over the negative feedback on sanitation of the premises. The percentage of people who felt sanitation was not being maintained increased from 33 in the first survey to 59 in the second.
Stressing the need to change the public opinion on sanitation in the government hospitals, Mr. Krishna Babu said strict action would be taken if measures were not taken to rectify the situation.
