The Kachirapalayam police have arrested a suspended village assistant on charges of hurling cow dung on a village administrative officer at her office in Vadakkanandal here on Tuesday. The arrested has been identified as P. Sangeetha, of Vadakkanandal.
According to police, a serious difference of opinion prevailed between Sangeetha and the VAO, M. Tamilarasi, 39. Things heated up after Sangeetha allegedly locked the VAO in her office on December 18, and left the premises on her two-wheeler. Following this, Tamilarasi lodged a complaint with the tahsildar and Sangeetha was placed under suspension.
On Tuesday, Sangeeth allegedly assaulter Tamilarasi at her office and hurled cow dung on her. On the information, the Kachirapalayam police shifted Tamilarasi to the Kallakurichi Government Hospital, and arrested Sangeetha. She was produced before a local court and remanded to custody.
Meanwhile, an audio clip containing a purported conversation between a ruling DMK legislator and Tamilarasi has gone viral. In the audio clip, the MLA is heard questioning the VAO for not being present on the field during the recent floods.
