Manjusha, widow of K. Naveen Babu, a former Kannur Additional District Magistrate (ADM) has filed an appeal before a Division Bench of the Kerala High Court against a single judge’s order rejecting her plea for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of her husband. In her appeal, she pointed out that her plea was refused by the single judge without taking into account the apparent flaws and discrepancies in the present investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). According to her, the single judge’s observation that the political allegiance of P.P. Divya, an accused in the case, to a ruling party was not a ground for ordering a CBI probe was wrong. She contended that the accused is a very influential member and prominent leader of a ruling party. Therefore, only an impartial agency like the CBI can conduct a probe into the case. No serious investigation is being conducted by the SIT, she said.
