New Delhi Drugs are being sold openly and consumed in public parks in the national capital, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged on Sunday (September 21, 2025) and termed it a sign of Delhi’s “law and order collapse”.
Speaking at a press conference, AAP leader and party’s Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in-charge Durgesh Pathak claimed that the parks in Naraina village, Rajinder Nagar Assembly constituency, have turned into hubs of drug abuse, with hundreds of used syringes littering the ground.
Describing the condition of Naraina’s public parks as “pathetic”, Mr. Pathak claimed that 200-1,000 syringes can be found scattered in each park. “When syringes are lying in public parks and drugs are being sold in the open, it is clear that law and order in Delhi has collapsed,” he said.
‘Politically motivated’
Mr. Pathak alleged that the BJP’s “four-engine” government had failed to control the menace. Delhi BJP president Praveen Shankar Kapoor termed the allegations “laughable” and “politically motivated”. “If drugs are being sold in Delhi today, then the same must have happened during AAP’s 10-year tenure,” he said.
