A rally was taken out in the city on Friday by members of several organisations and artists, urging Israel to stop the genocidal war against the Palestinian people.

The rally was organised under the banner of the Coalition of Periyarists. Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol. Thirumavalavan, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi president M.H. Jawahirullah, Socialist Democratic Party of India leader Dehlan Baqavi, May 17 Movement Coordinator Thirumurugan Gandhi, and actors Sathyaraj and Prakash Raj, and directors Ameer and Vetrimaran, among others, participated in the march held on Langs Garden Road in Pudupet. Over 5,000 people participated in the rally and protest.

Mr. Baqavi said Israel had been bombing Gaza non-stop day and night. More than 9 lakh Palestinians had been displaced and were without any sort of refuge.

Mr. Jawahirullah condemned the continuous attacks on the people in Gaza and added that while Israel escalated the genocide, the U.S. had vetoed the United Nations resolution that demands immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
