T.N. Minister inaugurates renovated Town Hall in Cuddalore

Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare M.R.K. Panneerselvam on Thursday inaugurated the renovated Town Hall in Cuddalore.

The building was renovated by NLC India Limited (NLCIL) at an estimated cost of ₹3.5 crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

According to an official release, NLCIL had extended the financial grant to the Cuddalore district administration enabling the comprehensive renovation of the iconic Town Hall, preserving its heritage.

A landmark steeped in history, the Town Hall served as a significant civic and cultural venue in Cuddalore for several decades. The NLCIL undertook the project as a flagship CSR initiative, ensuring that the structure was revitalised with modern amenities while retaining its architectural legacy.

Speaking on the occasion, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL said the company had always placed the development of Cuddalore district at the heart of its CSR mission. Nearly 70% of the company’s CSR funding was allocated to this region.

So far, NLCIL has invested ₹380 crore in various developmental initiatives, with projects worth an additional ₹46 crore under way. The Town Hall was a heritage asset and NLCIL was proud to have contributed to its restoration.

Since 2014, NLCIL has spearheaded transformative initiatives across Cuddalore district and supported infrastructure development, health, education, and community welfare. The company has also desilted over 40 major waterbodies so far, he added.

Cuddalore Member of Parliament M.K. Vishnu Prasad and Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar participated.
