Parassala station house officer P. Anil Kumar was suspended from service on Monday in connection with the hit-and-run case that fatally knocked down a 59-year-old man in Kilimanoor a week ago.

Orders were issued for the disciplinary action by the Inspector General of Police, South Zone, based on a report by District Police Chief (Thiruvananthapuram Rural) K.S. Sudarshan.

The incident occurred near Chennikuzhy during the early hours of September 7. The police officer’s vehicle hit Rajan, a daily-wage worker, who was later found dead by passersby. An inquiry found the official to have failed to assist the injured person or report the incident immediately to ensure medical assistance.
