As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday celebrations on September 17, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate 15 projects at a function at Thyagraj stadium while Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, along with her entire Cabinet, will participate in events to be held at India Gate.

The projects that Mr. Shah will launch include 101 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, five new hospital blocks, and 150 dialysis centres.

At India Gate, the government will host the ‘Thank You Modiji’ programme, which includes a blood donation camp, exhibition, and ‘Sewa Sankalp Walk’ at Kartavya Path.

Through the blood donation camp, the government is aiming to collect 1,000 units of blood, setting a new record, said an official at the Chief Minister’s Office.

The exhibition will highlight development projects in Delhi funded by the Centre during Mr. Modi’s tenure.

Ms. Gupta said the Delhi government will focus on strengthening the healthcare system during the ‘Seva Pakhwada’, a 15-day social service campaign that begins on September 17.

Attacking the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said that after “depriving the people of Delhi” for 10 years from Mr. Modi’s social initiatives, welfare schemes, and holistic development programmes, AAP leaders are now “perturbed” to learn that on September 17 five new hospital blocks, along with many public welfare projects, will be inaugurated in Delhi. “In the past 10 years, the [former] AAP government started the construction of multiple hospitals without full budgetary allocations, and not even one construction work was completed. The allocated funds were insufficient and there was rampant corruption,” he said.

‘Social service drama’

Responding to the allegations, AAP alleged that under the BJP’s ‘four-engine government’, the city roads have crumbled into pothole-ridden stretches.

Sharing a purported video of a pothole-ridden road in Patparganj, AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “While the PM’s birthday on September 17 is being celebrated with a ‘Seva Pakhwada’ drama, the BJP should first fix roads before staging service spectacles.”
