An engineering student was found dead at her residence in Taj Sultanpur village on the outskirts of Kalaburagi on Friday.

The victim, Bhagyashree Chittaguppa, a third semester engineering student of a private engineering college, was disturbed after her mother failed to arrange for her fees and hanged herself to death.

The victim’s mother, Mahananda, an anganwadi teacher, in her complaint lodged at the Chowk Police Station, stated that Bhagyashree took engineering course against her wish.

Though she managed to pay her admission fees of ₹1.25 lakh, it was difficult for her to arrange the money for her third semester fees.

Bhagyashree reportedly took the extreme step when her mother went to the anganwadi on Friday.
