Enhancing physical security of oil and gas infrastructure, strengthening cyber safety, reviewing emergency response mechanisms, preventing pilferage, and fostering inter-agency coordination were among the key points discussed at the 6th Onshore Security Coordination Committee (OSCC) meeting chaired by Telangana Director General of Police Jitender on Wednesday.
Constituted by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the OSCC provides an annual forum to review and strengthen the security and safety of the oil and gas sector. In Telangana, the committee includes senior police officers, representatives from the Special Intelligence Bureau, the District Collector of Hyderabad, Ministry of Mines officials, and heads of major Central Public Sector Undertakings operating in the state.
Officials reviewed security preparedness, physical infrastructure protection, cyber safety, and emergency response measures. Companies highlighted operational challenges and security concerns they are facing on the ground, seeking continued support from law enforcement and the district administration.
The DGP emphasised a coordinated security approach with special focus on cyber threats alongside physical protection of oil marketing companies. Additional DGP Mahesh Bhagwat stressed preventive measures against pilferage.
The meeting saw participation from Rachakonda Police Commissioner Sudheer Babu, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty, SIB Joint Director Thirugnana Sambandan, Hyderabad City Joint CP Administration Parimala Hana Nutan among others.
