VIT-A.P. University, Amaravati, has signed two memoranda of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) to strengthen research collaborations.
VIT-AP University vice-chancellor S.V. Kota Reddy signed two MoU with the institute. The first was for an overarching agreement between IIT-M and VIT-AP University and was signed with Raghunathan Rengaswamy, dean of Global Engagement, IIT-M.
This MoU lays out a framework for the two institutes to undertake initiatives in joint research programmes and in the domains of Artificial Intelligence, robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), electric vehicles (EVs) and advanced IC design. The MoU would also facilitate knowledge exchange; funding and resource mobilisation; and technology and innovation support.
The second MoU was for recognising VIT-A.P. University as aspoke institute under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) project, led by IIT-M and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). It was signed with Manu Santhanam, dean of Office of Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research, IIT-M.
The ISEA project focuses on advancing cybersecurity education, research, and awareness across the country.
Under the ISEA collaboration, there would be many opportunities, including annual support for up to five years to enable cutting-edge research, development and capacity-building initiatives. There would also be fully funded activities such as workshops, conferences, training programmes and awareness campaigns to promote cybersecurity best practices.
Expressing happiness at the collaboration, Mr. Kota Reddy and Mr. Raghunathan Rengaswamy said the MoU would set the stage for advancing research and innovation to new horizons, according a press release from VIT-A.P. University.
