If you are a resident of Gopalapuram, you might have not missed spotting a very old man pedalling his bicycle and delivering newspaper or milk packets every morning.

At the age of 94, K. Shanmugasundaram goes by the name ‘paper thatha’ in his locality. His day starts at 3:30 a.m. and firstly he collects around fifty milk packets from a point in Gopalapuram, which he delivers door-to-door without missing a day.

Right after that he immediately goes onto deliver sixty newspapers across 8 streets in Gopalapuram, starting from Padmavathi road.

After finishing his paper route, he finds a wedding hall, where he reads through every line of the newspaper, right up until the mid-day. Come rain or shine, this has been the routine of Mr. Shanmugasundaram’s life since the 2000s.
