The Tirupati district police has deployed drones to identify ‘dens’ used by anti-social elements, especially ganja and drug peddlers, to perpetuate their network.

The initiative taken under Tiruchanur police limits on Tuesday yielded results after the drone captured images of four unidentified persons consuming narcotic substances at a dilapidated building in the vicinity of a star hotel.

The drone operators immediately alerted the special police and also the EAGLE team (Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement), which rushed to the spot and rounded up the offenders. The police seized the substance from their possession before handing them over to the Tiruchanur police.

Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan Raju, who renewed his appeal to parents to closely monitor the movement of their children, appreciated the various teams for exhibiting exemplary coordination in nabbing the culprits.
