The southwest monsoon rain has mostly remained subdued in the last few days with synoptic conditions favouring the strengthening of rain in Northwest, Central and East India. Kochi airport and Chemberi in Kannur recorded the highest rainfall of 3 cm during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to the current synoptic conditions, the State may remain relatively quiet for another week, although light to moderate showers will continue in parts of north Kerala. A yellow alert warning of isolated heavy rain has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod on Wednesday (July 2).
