The Coimbatore District Federation of All Jamaaths and allied Islamic organisations have condemned the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for arresting four individuals, alleging that they have been framed in connection with the Tamil Nadu ISIS radicalisation and recruitment case, an offshoot of the 2022 Coimbatore car blast.

The federation alleged that the recent arrests made on June 19, 2025 were politically motivated and based on false charges. The four men, Ahmed Ali, Jawahar Sathik, Raja Abdullah alias ‘Mac’ Raja, and Sheik Dawood, were accused by the NIA of being radicalised by Jameel Basha, founder of Madras Arabic College, and of promoting extremist ideologies under the guise of Arabic instruction.

Rejecting these claims, the federation accused the NIA of defaming Arabic colleges and madrasas and misusing investigative powers to intimidate the Muslim community.

On Tuesday, Sultan Amir, a coordinator of the federation, told reporters the agency had pressured individuals to turn approvers and deliberately delayed bail proceedings. He alleged that the NIA was functioning in line with the interests of the BJP and that the recent arrests were part of a broader effort to stamp the Muslim community as hubs of terrorism and to target Arabic colleges operating across Tamil Nadu.

The federation urged the Tamil Nadu government and secular political parties to break their silence and demand accountability. It also announced legal support for those arrested and efforts to raise public awareness about the issue.
